Camping out in the back room is fun.

The Hollis Table

Today Jordyn is visiting to play with all her cousins, swim in the pool, and eat a big Memorial Day dinner. She looks so pretty with her long brown hair pulled back in a ponytail. She loves the Jello.

Prairie Roses

A dark pink rose growing in some trees at the edge of a pasture beside the highway, probably mark where an old homesite once stood.

It is an extensive bush with tiny thorns and bushels of blooms.

Another bush nearby in the undergrowth.

 

Flanked by a pink variety.

And the pale pink five-petaled pasture rose.

Cats and Kittens

Brenna and Stewart love to pet the cats and rest on the porch swing.

Queen Elizabeth the mother cat.

This one's a handful. So are these.

Six in all, some striped, some black and white, some mixed.

Lily Pads on the Lake

The water on this lake reflects the sky. I love the heart shapes of the leaves.

Did you know that the back sides of the lily leaves are red?

See, the edges are red.

The backs are red.

Fishing Fun!

Mr. Dolan's watershed lake is a favorite fishing spot. He free-heartedly allows us to come and bring friends to fish there. It is a shady peaceful spot. The Parks family visited us last weekend and we all went down to fish. 

The crappie and the white perch were biting. Everything went along fine. It was hot that day. Peaceful and quiet and hot. And then it happened. A terrible tragedy!

 

            

This is the story I got from the children. They all accidentally fell in. All eight of them! It was a large frightful accident! A big monster came and threw them all in. He looked like this. Yeah! Uglier! He did it! She did it! And someone got a splinter. It was tragic, unbelievable, horrid, wretched!!!!

Oh, it was just awful!

We just barely survived. You believe us, don't you?

I didn't even realize that the water was so wet and muddy. Sorry.

Really sorry!

 

We are mostly innocent and not too wet.

It was fun. We're hungry. Is supper ready? Can we ride home in the van?

The water looked so inviting!

Can we all pile in?
