Remodeling continued

Plumbing to tub and sink will be routed through and hidden here in small cabinet with open shelves above.
 Mudded sheetrock.

The work continued today on the remodeling of my main bathroom. This is the corner where the cabinet was that housed the hot water heater. It will hold a set of open shelves above a small enclosed cabinet.
Ron finished framing in the spot for the medicine cabinet. and outlets , switches and beside the mirror lights on each side. The medicine cavinet is stainless steel with glass shelves and a beveled mirror door.
The floor stripped of carpet and a layer of linoleum, we see the wood floor that once graced the Evening Star School near Watson Ranch off Highway 52 near Morris. The old school building was moved here and transformed into a home. We plan to cover the floor with ceramic tiles.
Three switches for vanity lights, overhead lights and exhaust fan. Ron replaced all the wiring and switches.
The exhaust fan housing in the ceiling.
I thought this was something but it turned out to be where the green sheet rock (mold and mildew proof) ran out. Today Ron went and bought more. That will be eleven sheets for a small room!
The sheet rock is mudded in and drying.
Drain pipes and water pipes to upstairs bathroom are now enclosed.
The new light fixture and exhaust fan looks green but is chrome with a frosted glass. I think it looks green because of all the green wall board around the room.
Making progress!

Tub set in place. Wall board in.

The tub looks so small! The wall behind the end of tub will have open shelves for storage beside the sink.

Pipes will not show. Light fixture will fit where temporary bulb is beside mirror.

Wall with texturing and one coat of primer
Primer going up
These are the floor tile. Notice the pattern is Fall Creek.

Orchids

This year I have been studying orchids.

These I bought at Lowe's.

My orchids have been so pretty this summer. This pink one had many blooms. The last two to come out are still looking pretty.
The butter cream and whites bloom from stems in the same pot. Both plants have put on new leaves.
The pink one I got on Mother's Day in 2009 from Rachel. It bloomed again this spring. I cut back the stem after the blossoms dropped and watered the roots very little during the winter. In the spring I began watering with 3 ice cubes a week and soon it put on a fresh stem of buds. It bloomed all summer.

Remodeling a bathroom

The tub and surround wallboard are gone. A new tub hasn't come in yet. The surround and new shower and faucets are waiting.
This cabinet held the hot water heater which has been moved to a large closet in the spare bedroom. This will be replaced with open fronted shelves.
The surround was made of Formica board  (gold speckled on white bit now seriously discolored.) and Audra had decorated the border with morning glory stencils. The walls are stripped out now to the studs.
This door to the hall will be replaced also.

This storage cabinet with a vanity table under it has been torn out. It will be replaced by an antique wardrobe that I have found for towels and such.
These are the before shots of my bathroom. We are replacing the carpet with ceramic tile, the tub, toilet and sink vanity with new fixture. We have decided on new light fixtures for ceiling and beside medicine cabinet. The new medicine cabinet is a Kohler stainless recessed med.cab. with a curved beveled mirror. We are installing a new ventilator fan.
The white vanity and formed sink will be pitched.

This is the new vanity , faucet and countertop I have chosen.

The old ugly medicine cabinet and below, the old storage cabinet,

old sink and shower. All ripped out now.

Here is Alton, standing around in the way and talking, which are two of his skills.

The Lar, hard at work deconstructing walls. This ugly wall is the backing that wainscoting was glued to. It all came out.
Tearing out the light above the medicine cabinet.

New home for the hot water heater. Dig that ancient wall paper.

This is the cabinet I bought in Muskogee to act as a storage for towels and bath supplies.

Ron is adding shelves for me.

Where it once was with cabinet, tub and wall board gone. The green is the new sheetrock behind tub which will be covered by the tub shell surround.
The new sink oval

Al wiring to be replaced today!
 Sheetrock around tub
Side of vanity, still without its sink and faucets.
